Light in the Piazza is traditionally staged in the elaborate backdrop of Florence, Italy. However, to capture the more intimate moments of this story, the director, Dakota Clement chose instead to stage this show in a painter’s studio. To prepare the actors and design team to think from an artist’s perspective, during a dramaturgy workshop, they created abstract art pieces that represented themselves. Armed with scraps of fabric, paint, glue, tape, and their own creativity, they set about making their art. You can find these art pieces throughout the lobby display.
