With Two Wings Music Contest Rules

MY OWN MUSICAL THEME CONTEST

To be considered to receive your very own musical theme, please submit the following things to dramaturgy@byu.edu by Saturday, October 26th, 2019.

  1. Your first name.
  2.  Your email address (or your parent’s email address)
  3.  Three adjectives that describe you.
  4.  (Optional) A picture of something you love
  5.  (Optional) Musical styles/genres that you love.

Winners will be selected and notified via email by November 2nd. Shortly after, a video of our composer, CJ, improvising your musical theme will be uploaded to 4thWallDramaturgy, and an mp3 file of the music will be sent to the email that you provide.

When you submit an entry you agree to:

  • Allow your first name and response (including optional pictures) to be posted on 4thWallDramaturgy. 
  • Allow your musical theme to be posted on 4thWallDramaturgy.

Good luck! If you aren’t chosen, we encourage you to write your own theme for yourself. Music is a way we can fly without wings.

A Swing for the Supernatural

If you will see, or have seen, the BYU Theatre production of Blithe Spirit this June, you may notice that there are two names in the cast list who are not given a character role, but simply the role of “Swing.” Just what is a swing, and why are they important for a production? As dramaturg, I interviewed our two swing actors to get their perspectives - and definitions - of this important role.
