Welcome back, and happy New Year! Opening night is just around the corner, and The Count of Monte Cristo has been receiving a lot of press coverage. Many local and national sources are interested in this new musical making its premiere in America. Here are some of the videos and press photos from recent events. Hope you enjoy, and make sure you get your tickets soon!

Broadwayworld.com, a prestigious site for Broadway, theater, and live performance information, featured lead cast members Preston Yates (as Edmund Dantes) and Shae Robins (as Mercedes) on the home page singing this soulful and heart-wrenching duet.

BYU News has released numerous videos and photos on their page dedicated to The Count of Monte Cristo. A recent video showed the villains of the show, played by Taylor Morris, Matthew Krantz, and Cameron Smith, constructing a plot against Edmund Dantes.

Fox 13 News out of Salt Lake City came and did two TV spots, including an interview with Jeff Martin, the show’s creative producer.

They also had a clip highlighting Shae Robins in the emotional ballad “I Will Be There”.

The show was featured on the BYU School of Music’s website, with additional information regarding working with composer Frank Wildhorn. Additionally, BYU’s student newspaper the Universe ran an article about the show. More news resources and interviews will be coming in the next few weeks, so stay tuned!

Gifts of Music and Cultures: Bulgaria

December 02, 2022 09:55 PM
Throughout my time in Spain over the summer with my folk dance team, I had the opportunity to meet so many people from all around the world. From Mexico, Poland, Bulgaria, and of course Spain, we were able to meet so many amazing people and make so many amazing connections. We didn’t all speak the same language, many of them didn’t speak English and we didn’t speak many of their languages. So relying on the power of song and dance, we were able to connect through different aspects.

Connecting Through Language

December 02, 2022 09:45 PM
Often times when we think of gifts we think of monetary things, however, gifts can come in many shapes and forms. I had the opportunity to share many gifts this summer on a dance tour with another team I participate in, American Rhythm. We had five incredible weeks of singing, dancing, and performing all throughout Spain. Throughout my time I was able to meet so many people and while we didn’t share the same language or even cultural background, I was able to see them as children of God and people that I would now proudly call my friends. Here are a few excerpts from my personal journal entries highlighting some of those moments.
